Hello everyone,
This year, I am doing my poem a day a little differently. I am writing a new poem every day, and these blog posts will go more in-depth on the process.
The word from the random word generator was WIFE
Here is the poem:
Will love ever be enough for me to feel a true partnership?
The whole traditional, husband and wife, till death do us part stuff.
I don't know if I trust the hopeless romantic people pleaser in me to be able to not anxiously attach to the avoidant.
I also am a cat
like I need space, alone time, independence
not to be smothered with physcicality and romantics.
And don't get me started on those five love languages,
just ask your partner if they like physical touch.
Touch them.
Come on.
It is all wanting in an instant
knowing in an instant
feeling a spark
love at first sight
but I don't think that's enough for a true partnership
at least for me.
So this became a vent session on dating and instant gratification in dating, which doesn’t really exist. Disclaimer: I do think love at first sight and feeling a spark are real things that can happen. Please don’t fight me. I just think sometimes that is relied on rather than continuously trying with someone you like.
