Highlight Show(s) of the Past Week

The only show I saw this week was the Phoebe Bridgers show at Madison Square Garden. It was honestly an amazing experience. The audience heard 8 unreleased songs and a lot of Phoebe’s hits. It was my first time seeing her, so being able to hear Waiting Room live was honestly life-changing. I also think more shows should be no phones, it really allowed me to 1. recognize I am an addict with a problem 2. Be really present in the moment. I personally feel like I rely on my phone to be my memory of the shows I have seen, and it felt nice to just rely on myself to see what stuck. The coolest part of the show for me was how Phoebe made such a huge venue feel so intimate. It was just her and her band on a couch on a small circular stage in this huge arena. The couch had a blanket draped on the back, and there were other items such as lava lamps and an old TV. It made me feel like, instead of putting on a show and having to wear this performer mask, we, as the audience, were invited into a comfortable creative space for the artist. I’m hoping this continues to be a trend with artists. I do not always want spectacle; I want humanity.
